Black Tie Event

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Alexa and I met up and took a bunch of photographs, and the first thing we decided to get into were black tie gowns. The two gowns I am wearing in these photographs are both of my mothers dresses from when she was in her 20′s! It was really cool to play around with them and try to incorporate some more up to date pieces with it. I am wearing Alexa’s black headband with a flower on it, we thought it might add a little bit of a younger vibe to this extremely intense to the floor black gown. In the other photograph I am wearing another one of my mother’s dresses, a lot more sophisticated and also on the lighter side. Its a silver one shoulder and extremely classy. The black one has a mini slip underneath it so the rest was sheer which is my favorite part, and the silver one is all one length. I love the detailing on the neckline of the silver gown it’s so pretty especially because it shows your collar bone, which I think is the prettiest part on a girl. It’s difficult to find long gowns, but if you are really looking for something special, I can only suggest the main stores that would carry nice ones, which is Bergdorfs, Henri Bendel, Bloomingdales, etc. If you are a vintage shopper, there are plenty of vintage stores in the city where you can go in and try a ton of gowns on, get them taken in, shortened, whatever it may be. You can always find something different that way.
