Fall is the best time to get good use out of your hats. Whether it’s a casual beenie, a bowler hat, or a big fur hat (from Topshop by the way), it always adds something to an outfit. I tried to incorporate a hat to a dress and to a pant outfit, but nothing compares to the kinds of hats and accessories I saw yesterday. I got to go to NY Vintage and my world literally ended right when we rang the doorbell and walked through the door. Although the main room for the public to shop had pieces that you could only dream about, I was able to go to the upstairs private room and dig through racks and racks of vintage clothing. As I walked up the red velvet carpeted staircase, I had no idea what to expect. Describing the accessories, clothing and shoes that I saw wouldn’t give it its justice. Unfortunately, everything up stairs was not allowed to be purchased, only rented. I literally tried on every single hat, ones that were from the 1940′s, the 70′s, and all different styles and colors. I could of spent weeks in this store. There were these mint green satin pants that tied into knots on the side, a pink sequined mini dress with silver and gold detailing, a purple suede hat with creases going down the middle, I could go on forever. My sister picked up these silver airplane earrings that were probably the coolest piece of jewelry ever, and we also found some really interesting belts. I saw a brown distressed belt with a big indian head metal buckle. Even the way they package your stuff was cool, in one of those circular boxes, truly the most fun to carry around. Anyway, it inspired me to really take advantage of the accessories I have that I never use, like old hats, headbands, and belts. This week Alexa will take photographs of only vintage clothing and accessories. Can’t wait to put together more outfits!
