recession proof swagger

A few years ago on a trip to LA, some friends took me shopping at a spot on Melrose. This spot “Slow” became a staple LA shopping stop whenever I happened ventured to the left coast, and with very good reason. Slow is a little vintage spot filled with amazing finds, all of which are beyond reasonably priced. Lately i’ve been suffering from “a closet full of nothing to wear” syndrome, and decided I needed something new to get me out of my funk. After a ton of online and window shopping I was convinced I was not going to find anything I would both like and be able to afford. Then I remembered Slow. Among the two pairs of boots, sequined top, and two sweaters I bought for under $100. I found a dope floor length sleeveless wrap which was the kind of piece I would never expect to see anywhere except in Whitney Houston’s 1992 film “The Bodyguard.” It was made in India of 100% sheer black silk. It’s covered gold beaded piping that ends in a fringe at the bottom of the garment. Sort of reminiscent of a flapper dress. The neckline has some gold beaded detail as well. It’s beautiful! I’m not sure what the best part of this piece is…. either that there are a hundred different ways to wear it, or that it was $20! Keep your eyes peeled… there are some amazing one of a kind items right under your nose. Don’t over look them! I glanced right past this one, and a friend pointed it out and I couldn’t be happier. I saw it and immediately quoted Rachel Zoe and screamed “I….DIE. THIS IS BA….NANAS” I spent next to nothing and now have an unforgettable item I can wear seven million ways, its like buying twelve outfits in one! take a look…
