brown leather.

Alexa Meyer Photography
This brown leather jacket is actually my older sisters, I stole it from her, but it will probably be taken back on Friday when she sees it in my closet. Brown leather is by far my favorite, so much better than black, although black is more practical. This one specifically though because of all the detailing, and the sweater like collar. I wish it was warm enough to wear leather jackets. I would never neglect my furs or heavy coats, but I do miss leather. Anyway, I leave for vacation on saturday morning and won't be posting for two weeks! I want to wish everyone a fantastic holiday and a happy new year! :)

relaxed fur.

Alexa Meyer Photography

No better outfit than comfortable jeans and a t-shirt. I wore these jeans to Alexa's apartment, totally not planning on photographing it, but she asked me to put a comfortable outfit together, and with this fur. Turns out, this is an outfit I've worn twice since then. Ripped up jeans will always be in style to me. I folded them at the bottom so that you could see more of my shoe. The most comfortable heels I own. The t-shirt is just one of those worn in Kain three quarter. Sheer though so usually have to wear something over it.

Julia Roitfeld

Julia Roitfeld (Editor of French Vogue's daughter) has great style. I admire her risk taking, and not to mention, she is stunningly beautiful.
I actually really happen to love that haircut,
shoulder length.
I love this black ensemble, need a dress like that!

Aziza: A word from L.A ;)

recession proof swagger

A few years ago on a trip to LA, some friends took me shopping at a spot on Melrose. This spot "Slow" became a staple LA shopping stop whenever I happened ventured to the left coast, and with very good reason. Slow is a little vintage spot filled with amazing finds, all of which are beyond reasonably priced. Lately i've been suffering from "a closet full of nothing to wear" syndrome, and decided I needed something new to get me out of my funk. After a ton of online and window shopping I was convinced I was not going to find anything I would both like and be able to afford. Then I remembered Slow. Among the two pairs of boots, sequined top, and two sweaters I bought for under $100. I found a dope floor length sleeveless wrap which was the kind of piece I would never expect to see anywhere except in Whitney Houston's 1992 film "The Bodyguard." It was made in India of 100% sheer black silk. It's covered gold beaded piping that ends in a fringe at the bottom of the garment. Sort of reminiscent of a flapper dress. The neckline has some gold beaded detail as well. It's beautiful! I'm not sure what the best part of this piece is.... either that there are a hundred different ways to wear it, or that it was $20! Keep your eyes peeled... there are some amazing one of a kind items right under your nose. Don't over look them! I glanced right past this one, and a friend pointed it out and I couldn't be happier. I saw it and immediately quoted Rachel Zoe and screamed "I....DIE. THIS IS BA....NANAS" I spent next to nothing and now have an unforgettable item I can wear seven million ways, its like buying twelve outfits in one! take a look...

(Pants: Mugler, Tank top: Phillip Lim)
My mom was going through things in her closet and offered me these pants. At first I wasn't really sure when or how I could wear them, but after playing around with them they turned out to be a lot cooler than I thought. They're much more my older sisters style, (I mean, she has the best style,) but I figured maybe I could incorporate some of that into my own. I would wear these pants to a holiday party or a dinner. I wanted to wear it with something light on top so that the detailing of the pants would stand out. This also would look cute with a cropped sweater for the winter. My tank top is Phillip Lim, and is about three years old, but a great purchase. It's different but easy, and I love the frilly flap on top. I wish we photgraphed the back of the tank top, because the silver buttons that go up the back are a huge part of the shirt. The shorter silver necklace my mother gave it to me, but we try to share it between me and my little sister, and the long silver one my older sister got me for my 21st birthday. It broke though :( still looks cool. I know high waisted can be tricky, but these are not tight high waisted and could be flattering on almost anyone.

MY DREAM SHOES FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

Max Azria BCBG Pony Hair wedges. There aren't enough words to describe how amazing these are. I am putting it out in the universe how I yearn for these for the holidays. Perfection.

Moroccan Fur

Alexa Meyer Photography
(Necklace: from my sister; Skirt: Kimchi Blue; Top: Humanoid; Black hand made Moroccan fur cape; Miu Miu pumps)
This was sort of a last minute outfit. I had extra things lying around in Alexa's apartment and I really wanted to put my black fur moroccan cape my mother bought for me with something. I actually wore it to a charity event with a mini black long sleeve Alexander Wang dress, which I have yet to photograph. In these photos, I paired it with a shirt my mom was about to sell by a brand called Humanoid. My mom started this "mini business" one might say, where she sells all of her old clothing and accessories that she doesn't want or wear anymore and then uses her check to buy new things. The funny thing is, I always catch some of my favorite pieces of clothing lying in the brown box about to be sealed and shipped off. This shirt though was hers, and I had to snatch it before it was to be sold. I am wearing a black tulle skirt by Kimchi Blue, pretty easy to go with anything. The belt is a mens H&M belt that I live in. I prefer to buy mens belts, considering they are always softer and more worn in, and can fit any way you need it. High waisted or waist level. I photographed this necklace in a previous post, my older sister gave it to me from a shoot she did. I am obsessed with it, but probably one of the heaviest things to wear. The brown pumps I got on a sale rack, last pair my size, distressed brown leather.

lace & leather

Alexa Meyer Photography
(Blank leather pants, Coolwear lace top, Christian Louboutin pumps)
These are my all time favorite leather pants, clearly not real leather, but the company that makes these pants (Blank) are the best fitting jeans/pants in the world. They are so comfortable, and CHEAP! My only issue with them is that the zipper lining is red, and it always causes a problem every time I put an outfit together. The top I'm wearing is from my dads old clothing line Coolwear. It's a lace top, with buttons going up the back. I could easily say i've had it for 10 years, and I still wear it to this day. Although I only put a bra underneath, a tank top would be suitable as well, just keep it plain, beige, white. If you are going for a more casual look with leather pants though, I love it with just a comfy old t-shirt, or an oversized button down.

studded

I'm not really sure why I walked into the Prada store, but I had a feeling there would be something in there I had to try on. Lo and behold, I came across these, which I have seen plenty of times before, but they had my size right in front, AND on a 50% off sale, and just for fun I decided to try them on. I can't even attempt to describe the feeling, it was just right! I had to have them. I am so in love with them, I put them on that second- threw my boots, and wore them the rest of the day. I am definitely wearing them out this weekend! It's actually a little confusing as to why they make suede shoes (winter), but open toe (summer). How and when do they expect us to wear them? Either way, I will make these work all winter.

mismatch

Alexa Meyer Photography
(Sass&Bide t-shirt, Matthew Williamson skirt, Topshop suede booties, jewelry vintage)
This is probably the most colorful outfit I have ever put together. I wish I could explain the thought process that went into this but even I don't know. I just looked at this skirt, so many colors and patterns, and thought, I want to put something busy on top as well. This is an outfit I'd wear over break while I'm away (which I can not wait for.) The boots are suede and kind of wintery so I will probably change that. Not only are the colors on the skirt so all over the place and so cool, but the lace underneath it makes it that much cooler. This is a skirt that has been passed around between me and my sisters for years. We thought Michaela would take it to Florida since she lives there, but luckily she passed that up. (Although she's probably reading this now and wishing she didn't.) I must admit, this t-shirt is so old, I can't even remember the last time I wore it. That's why you should never throw away anything! (clothing wise). You always wind up wearing it again, and if you do throw it away, it's always that one piece you're looking for months later.

Warm GLOW.

Alexa Meyer Photography
(Sweater: Topshop, Black pants: Elizabeth&James, Rings: Vintage, big gold one from my sister, Loafers: Stuart Weitzman)
I don't know what it is, if it's the lighting or the color of the sweater in these photographs, but it is literally glowing. I also don't really know what compelled me to buy this sweater, but it stuck out in the store. Unfortunately, even though it isn't vintage, it sure does smell like it, and there is absolutely no way of going about washing this thing. It's too pretty to risk ruining. I love seeing it hanging in my closet next to my other shiny pieces, because this one puts everything else to shame. It's a satisfied sequined piece. Not a single part of the sweater is visible. Anyway, I wore this sweater out with some friends a few weekends ago, and I paired it with a black skirt and thigh highs. Last night while trying it on, I was more in casual mode, and decided to see what it would look like with these high waisted Elizabeth&James pants. I feel bad for anything you pair this sweater with, considering it won't even be noticeable. This sweater takes up an entire outfit, which is great, but that's why it's kind of important to put it with something simple. After much consideration, I wore flats opposed to heels with this. I felt like my blog is always displaying outfits with heels and never with flat shoes. I don't own a pair of sneakers, but as far as flat shoes go, I love these Stuart Weitzman shiny loafers. They are so convenient, and are pretty easy to go with anything. A fine purchase.
Enjoy! xx

Fringe

Alexa Meyer Photography
(Vivenne Tam Skirt, Topshop suede fringe jacket, Elizabeth and James booties, Rings and Necklaces: vintage)
I pulled up to Alexa's apartment and we carried in bags of clothing, shoes, and accessories. Completely disheveled, we decided to organize all of the clothing, shoes, and accessories and go with whatever we felt fit the mood. At first I wanted to photograph this black Vivienne Tam skirt AS a skirt and just close the velvet fringe jacket, but once on, it didn't look the way I saw it in my head. I've actually photographed this black skirt before as a dress over the summer. It sometimes really irritates me that it was purchased as a skirt, and not once have I used it in that manner. Anyway, since it's tuesday night, my state of mind was going out mode (although, this is so not wearable in the weather at this moment and I wasn't going out), I was still in a toasty apartment overlooking Manhattan and this is what grabbed me. We laid out all of my jewelry on the table and together we chose random rings and necklaces. Tonight we put together almost 10 outfits, and photographed every single one, so much more to come. I'm sorry for the delay this past week, but i'll be back on track now!
Stay warm!
