I would like to nominate Richard Nobbs who is the Honorary President of Friends of Downs View School. Richard has been inovvled with Downs View School , which caters for pupils aged 4 19 with severe learning difficulties, since it was originally opened. Next year is his half century for fund raising not only for the Friends but also for Mencap and many other charities which support children and adults with special needs. He also founded one of the first clubs in Brighton for people with special needs giving them an opportunity to meet and enjoy going to a club. His is 85 years old and never misses an event, even though he has not been in the best of health lately . He always helps at all the functions, not only with his time but also with raffle prizes. It is hard to calculate how much he has raised over those years but it is certainly a very sizeable amount. It would be such a big surprise for him to receive the hamper. He is a quiet unassuming hero and our committee wouldn’t be the same without him. What a lovely way to say a massive THANK YOU from everyone whose lives have been touched by him.
