At-Home Date Ideas for the 20-Something

Homemade Pizza at Home: We have a new puppy so staying at home for date night is definitely part of our foreseeable future! To be honest, I consider myself to be a bit of a homebody anyway so this is something I have no problem with. The other night we got pizza dough, made some homemade pizza (my personal favorite is BBQ chicken) and drank red wine. We ended the night with an episode of the office!

Order Sushi for Delivery: We didn’t order in food for a few months in the beginning of quarantine but when it felt a bit more normal to do so, we definitely jumped on the chance to order sushi. Of course, we have neighborhood spots (our favorites are Suzu Sushi and Dai Hachi Sushi) but when we are looking to treat ourselves, we are quick to Postmates in Momoya or Nobu (which we did the night we got engaged!).

Date Night Out Ideas for the 20-Something

Frank RestaurantThis is our go-to restaurant when we are looking for good food, good wine, and a low key atmosphere. We have NEVER been disappointed and go here for many of our celebratory moments.

Comedy Cellar: One of my top three favorite dates was at the Comedy Cellar! Corey and I went here when we first started getting serious and it was such an easy way to get to really see the other in a positive light. I don’t remember a moment that we stopped laughing.

At-Home Date Ideas for the 30-Something

Do a Virtual Cocktail Making Class: Even though sheltering-in-place has put a dent on “traditional” date nights–my husband Sahan and I have made it a point to continue to have our weekly date nights even if it means we need to get a little more creative! My favorite at-home date night was a virtual cocktail making class!  We had a blast learning a few tips and making two signature cocktails- an Old Fashioned and a Tom Collins.

Have a Tapas Night In: Unfortunately, we had to cancel our honeymoon to Spain in April due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, so instead we decided to bring a little Spain to us! We planned a Tapas Night, and spent the day cooking a few Spanish-inspired dishes, made some sangria, got all dressed up and talked for hours! Although we were heartbroken over the cancellation, that night was one of the best nights we’ve ever had.

Pera Soho: This is our all-time favorite restaurant in NYC! We are huge foodies, and have never been disappointed by a meal here! They also have the most charming outdoor garden area that makes it the perfect date night ambiance!

Plan an Outdoor Picnic: Picnics are having a moment right now. Since indoor dining is out of the question, going on a picnic seemed like the next best thing! Recently, my husband and I went to Central Park and planned a picnic with another couple. We had the best time! We brought with us a bottle of wine, enjoyed some apps, and played a few games like Heads Up and Psych!

Central Park stretches from 59th Street to 110th Street between Central Park West and Fifth Avenue
