7 Summer Cocktail Ideas to Try This Weekend

All summer long, we've been sharing our favorite cocktail recipes on Something Navy's Instagram stories. 
There's no better moment to toast to the season, and these delicious and easy to make cocktails are the perfect choice for your next cheers. We rounded up the step by step recipes of our favorite Instagram-worthy cocktails below so you can make them yourself. 

Bees Knees

Ingredients:

  • 1 shot lemon juice

  • 1 shot honey simple syrup

  • 1 shot gin

To make simple syrup: Dissolve equal parts honey into hot water. Let cool before adding to drink.

Directions:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add lemon juice, honey simple syrup, and gin.

  • Shake well and strain into a chilled glass. Do not serve over ice.

  • Garnish with a lemon twist.

Vodka Watermelon Cocktail

Ingredients: 

  • 4 cups of chilled watermelon

  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice

  • 1 cup of vodka (for an even zestier drink, use Ketel One Botanicals grapefruit and rose-infused vodka)

  • Lime wedges, watermelon wedges, and mint for garnish

  • You can also add agave nectar or honey for a sweeter drink

Directions: 

  • Measure out 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice.

  • Cut watermelon into cubes and measure four cups.

  • Combine watermelon, 1 cup of vodka, and lime juice in a blender.

  • Blend until smooth.

  • Pour mixture into a pitcher.

  • Fill a glass with ice, and pour mixture in. 

  • Add lime wedges and watermelon wedges to garnish.

Grapefruit Blueberry Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces silver tequila

  • 1 ounce ruby grapefruit juice

  • Sugar-free tonic water

  • Blueberries for serving

  • Fresh Thyme for garnish

Directions:

  • Mix tequila, juice, and tonic water together.

  • Pour into glasses.

  • Add blueberries and fresh thyme sprigs to garnish.

Strawberry Moscow Mule

Ingredients:

  • 1 shot vodka

  • 1 shot lime juice

  • 1 shot roasted strawberries

  • 1-2 shots ginger beer

Directions:

  • Chop strawberries into ½ inch pieces. Toss them in granulated sugar or honey.

  • Roast strawberries in a small saucepan until jam-like (around 15-20 mins). You can puree them at this point if you don’t want chunks. Cool to room temp.

  • Muddle roasted strawberries, vodka, lime juice in a chilled cocktail shaker. Fill with ice. Shake well. Strain into a glass filled with ice.

  • Top with ginger beer and garnish with a fresh strawberry.

Pineapple Whisky Sour

Ingredients:

  • 1-1½ shots bourbon

  • ¾ shot lemon juice

  • ¾ shot pineapple juice

  • 1 pasteurized egg white

  • Agave or any natural sweetener (optional)

Directions:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with bourbon, lemon juice, pineapple juice, egg white, and agave. Shake well, until the egg white turns very frothy.

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake again.

  • Strain into a chilled glass with or without ice.

  • Garnish with a lemon twist.

Citrus Rosé Sangria

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup rosé wine

  • 1 tablespoon of brandy

  • 1 tablespoon of orange liqueur

  • 2 tablespoons of grapefruit juice

  • 1 tablespoon of orange juice

  • 2 tablespoons of soda water

  • ½ of a lemon cut into ½ inch slices

  • ½ of an orange cut into ½ inch slices

  • ½ cup of raspberries

Directions:

  • Cut your lemons and orange into ½ inch slices. Save one orange slice for garnish, and add the fruit to your glass.

  • Add 1 tablespoon of orange liqueur and 1 tablespoon of brandy. Let it sit for 10 minutes so the fruit can absorb some of the liquid.

  • Add ½ cup of rosé.

  • Add two tablespoons of grapefruit juice and 1 tablespoon of orange juice.

  • Top it off with soda water. Add ice and stir.

  • Garnish with an orange slice.

Siesta

Ingredients:

  • ¾ shot grapefruit juice

  • ¾ shot lime juice

  • ½ shot simple syrup

  • ½ shot Campari

  • 1 ½ shot tequila

To make the simple syrup: Dissolve equal parts sugar into hot water. Let cool before adding to drink.

Directions:  

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add tequila, Campari, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup.

  • Shake well and strain into a chilled glass with or without ice. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.
