5 Female-Founded Liquor Brands to Try This Weekend

Calling all happy hour fans (AKA... all of us): we're upgrading your cocktail game with five new recipes from female-founded brands.

These game-changing companies are transforming the wine and spirits industry. As you toast to the impending arrival of spring (or just about anything else), choose these brands and recipes to celebrate female founders, all in the name of happy hour.

Pomp & Whimsy

Pomp & Whimsy is a female-founded liquor brand that has reinvented a classic spirit: gin. Their gin liqueur is distilled with botanicals, like grapefruit and orange, to elevate your cocktail sipping experience. We're all about boss babes changing the game.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ ounce gin

  • ½ ounce Pomp & Whimsy Gin Liqueur

  • ½ ounce simple syrup

  • A dash of cardamom bitters

  • A grapefruit, to garnish

Directions:

  • Fill a double old fashion glass with ice

  • Combine all ingredients

  • Finish with a twist of grapefruit peel to garnish

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of Bev rosé

  • 3 tablespoon pomegranate juice

  • Splash of sparkling lemon water

  • Pomegranate seeds, to garnish

Directions:

  • Combine the rosé and pomegranate juice in a glass over ice

  • Top with a splash of sparkling lemon water

  • Garnish with pomegranate seeds

Two Chicks

The cocktail innovators behind Two Chicks set out to create great-tasting and beautifully packaged cocktails made with premium spirits and botanicals. The brand stays true to its name: the company is led by founder Meghan Hanna and CEO Linda Cash.

Two Chicks cocktails are ready to drink straight from the can, but a few garnishes really enhance the experience. Here's how we recommend sipping their Sparkling Paloma.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 chilled can of Two Chicks Sparkling Paloma

  • Grapefruit wedges, to serve

  • Lime wedges, to serve 

  • Optional: add an extra shot of tequila on the side to enjoy with your Paloma

Directions:

  • Fill a glass with ice 

  • Add the Sparkling Paloma 

  • Garnish with the grapefruit wedges and lime wedges

Camila Soriano turned her love of tequila sodas into Volley, a clean tequila seltzer company she founded with her husband. Their cocktails contain just three ingredients: 100% blue agave tequila, sparkling water, and organic juice.

For something that's both a little spicy and subtly fruity, we recommend the Pomegranate Ginger Bubbly cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 can Spicy Ginger Volley

  • ½ ounce of triple sec

  • Juice of ½ lime

  • Pomegranate juice

  • An orange slice, lime wheel, and pomegranate seeds to garnish

Directions:

  • Combine ingredients in a glass filled with ice

  • Add garnishes and enjoy

This is a cocktail even the most passionate wine aficionados will love. Avaline is a clean wine company founded by Cameron Diaz (yes, that Cameron Diaz) and Katherine Power, the CEO of Who What Wear. Their wines are made with organic grapes and without any unnecessary additives.

Their Avaline Sparkling Float is dessert in a glass–prepare to enjoy.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 scoop of your favorite sorbet 

  • 3-4 ounces of Avaline Sparkling wine 

  • A handful of fresh raspberries

Directions:

  • Fill a coup glass with a scoop of sorbet 

  • Pour the Avaline sparkling wine on top 

  • Sprinkle fresh raspberries to finish
