Summer Fridays: Happy Hour with Team SN

If you know Team SN, you know we can’t get enough of summer. And one of our favorite perks? Summer Fridays. This year, we’ve taken things to the next level, by bringing our epic Summer Friday experiences to all of you, by hosting happy hours at SN Bleecker Street. If you missed out on the last couple, pop by 379 Bleecker this Friday from 3 pm - 6 pm, to enjoy some of team SN’s favorites. And, to tide you over in the meantime, here are three of our absolute favorite cocktail recipes to keep you refreshed all summer long. It’s 5 O’Clock somewhere, right?

Paloma

Move over, spicy marg! With far less sugar than your typical tequila cocktail (read: minimal hangover), toss your Triple Sec aside and prepare for a palate-cleansing Paloma. We know it’s early, but we’re calling it the drink of the summer.

Ingredients:

Makes 1 strong or 2 mild cocktails

  • 2 oz silver tequila (we recommend Espolon)

  • Juice of ½ a lime

  • 6 oz Fever Tree Sparkling Pink Grapefruit Soda (available for purchase at our neighbors’, Boisson – which also has tons of options for those who aren’t into alcohol)

  • Slice of lime or grapefruit, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Fill a glass with ice (no need to shake).

  2. Pour in tequila.

  3. Top up with grapefruit soda.

  4. Garnish with grapefruit or lime.

Gin & Tonic

We know, Gin & Tonics can feel a bit old-school, but we’ve freshened up the classic cocktail with a simple but powerful twist: switching up the citrus.

Ingredients:

Makes 1 strong or two mild cocktails

Directions:

  1. Fill a glass with ice (no need to shake).

  2. Pour in gin.

  3. Top off with 6 oz of tonic water.

  4. Squeeze ¼ lemon into the glass.

  5. Garnish with the remaining ¼ .

  6. Top off with a rosemary sprig.

Caipirinha

As much as we love a classic cocktail, we had to include an under-the-radar option in the mix, too. Inspired by wintertime trips to Rio de Janiero, this caipirinha requires some special ingredients you may not have on hand–but we promise it’s worth it. As they say in Brazil: saúde!

Ingredients:

Makes 1 strong or two mild cocktails

  • 2 oz cachaça (for a capriroska, replace with vodka)

  • Lime, quartered

  • 2 teaspoons white cane sugar

Instructions:

  1. Add sugar and quartered lime to a shaker.

  2. Muddle (not too hard! You want to extract the juice without deconstructing the lime).

  3. Add ice and cachaça.

  4. Shake (rule of thumb: shake until it’s ‘too cold to hold’).

  5. Fill Old-Fashioned glass with ice.

  6. Strain into glass and enjoy!
