Rose Fabric 101 🌹
For our August collection, we wanted to create a group of core shirt styles in simple silhouettes for everyday wear–those trusty t-shirts and turtlenecks you grab from your closet on a regular basis. But in true SN style, we wanted to make them anything but ordinary. This rose fabric was discovered when our team went to Portugal to visit mills and factories. After finding the unique fabric blend that was ultra-comfortable, sustainable, and biodegradable, the rose collection was born.
But how do we create clothing out of roses? Great question. Let's get technical for a second: this fabric is a viscose and cotton blend. Viscose is any cellulose fiber obtained from a wood pulp or vegetable origin; the specific viscose fabric we use in these three styles is created from rose branches. The cellulose is transformed into a paste that is later converted into fibers. Next, it's spun together with cotton, creating the comfortable blend we have today. Got all that?
The rose blend fabric is one of many reasons our basics aren't actually basic at all. The three core styles (that's the Junko, Jade, and Leigh tops) are simple, classic silhouettes, but this fabric is what makes it stand out. Need we say more? Add some of our rose styles to your cart now!
