Three Generations of Style

Thank you to our friends at Cotton for partnering with us on this article.

It's no coincidence that Arielle and her sisters have made their mark in the world of fashion. Whether it's with Arielle's parents, sisters, and now girls - sharing her love for fashion has come easy - and so has her love for food and family time.

Influenced by her mother’s timeless sense of style and preference for cotton clothing essentials, cotton has allowed Arielle and her family to maintain their chic and classic aesthetic while being able to comfortably run after their kids (and now grandkids for Carrie). Their favorite pieces from The Cotton Shop make it easy for Arielle and Carrie to pass their penchant for cotton along to the next generation.

"My love for fashion has been with me since I was a little girl. I love being creative, experimenting, and using myself as a canvas to express myself. It has always been a therapeutic outlet for me." - Arielle

Style isn't the only thing Carrie has passed down to her girls. The family's love for quality time doesn't go unnoticed; one of their favorite ways to spend time together is in the kitchen. Carrie's love for cooking is her favorite way to bring the family together. With three daughters and now six grandchildren, it's a special tradition she hopes to pass down from generation to generation.

Since Arielle became a mother, she has followed closely in her mother's footsteps - sharing the two passions they have in common - food and fashion. Carrie's influence over Arielle holds strong when it comes to food - she loves dinner out (or in) with her husband, family, and friends.

"Food is special to our family because of my mother. We always look forward to her meals and would run home from school with the first question being what did you make for dinner tonight! Home-cooked meals on Fridays is a family tradition." - Arielle

Food isn't the only thing Carrie's passed down to Arielle and her sisters. Now that she is a mother, Arielle has turned to cotton fashion pieces to inspire outfits for her three daughters, Ruby, Esme, and Navy. Arielle and her sisters grew up wearing cotton - making it even more special to dress her girls in cotton clothing too. It's soft, breathable, hypoallergenic, and great for sensitive skin, which is essential for her girls. Not to mention it's long-lasting and easy to care for - a must when it comes to a mom constantly on the go!

"My love for food and cooking completely comes from my mother. The love and passion she puts into our family meals is something that will always stick with me. The importance she put on family dinners growing up has shaped me to be the woman and mother that I am today." - Arielle

The family's love for cotton goes beyond clothes – they actually use cottonseed oil in cooking too. Cottonseed oil is plant-based, sustainable, and lasts longer than many other cooking oils on the shelf. Not to mention it enhances the natural taste of foods, rather than contributing its own flavor. It only makes sense that the two things their family loves are fashion and food, and cotton is at the core of both.

It’s easy to see why cotton is a go-to for this fashionable family. And yours too without even realizing it. If you go into your closet and pull your favorite tee, jeans, or button-up, they are most likely cotton. It's comfortable, stylish, and a timeless fabric for generations to come.
