It's officially summer, so Team SN is stocking up on sunscreen, multipurpose lip and cheek products, aloe vera — and the list of warm-weather beauty favorites goes on. But beyond the tried-and-true essentials, there are so many more innovations we have our eye on this season. And it's about time you do, too.

For summer 2022, we're seeing an interest in both minimalist and maximalist beauty trends. Makeup aficionados are leaning into statement blush and dewy, radiant skin, as seen all over social media. But colorful eyeliner and super-saturated shades of eyeshadow are also trending. (After all, who says you can't have the best of both worlds?)

This summer, everyone has healthy, radiant skin on the mind. Two products we’re using to get the look? First, we’re cleansing with the new — and addictively good — KORA Organics Turmeric Glow Foaming Cleanser. After that, we’re among the thousands (maybe even millions?) slathering our face in Hailey Bieber’s glow-inducing Peptide Glazing Fluid, a lightweight serum dubbed the model’s “signature step to dewy, glazed skin.”

After that, it’s time to apply a generous amount of sunscreen. This season, we’re turning to Summer Fridays ShadeDrops Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Mineral Milk Sunscreen, a brand-new fragrance-free formula that’s lightweight like a serum, doesn’t leave a white cast, and doesn’t pill under makeup. Need we say any more? Reapplying this over makeup throughout the day would be hard, so a product we like to keep in our handbag is the Habit N°38 Facial Sunscreen Mist with SPF 38, which was designed with easy re-application in mind.

The final step in our skincare routine is lip oil, particularly Lady Gaga’s Haus Labs Ph.D. Hybrid Lip Oil. It’s Clean Sephora-approved and loaded with hydrating and nourishing ingredients like vegan collagen, prickly pear oil, and plant squalene. It’s a treatment and lip tint in one.

This summer’s skincare and makeup philosophy are pretty similar in that natural-looking radiance are in. An easy way to jump on board the trend is with a sheer to medium-coverage skin tint. And thankfully, there are so many great options on the market, one of the newest being the celeb-loved Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation. For lighter coverage, we’re longtime fans of the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 Foundation, conveniently infused with high-factor SPF.

Next up: blush. One of our can’t-live-without’s is Selena Gomez’s TikTok-famous Soft Pinch Liquid Blush (the tiniest bit goes a long way, FYI). After that, we love to subtly sculpt our complexion. The LYS Beauty No Limits Cream Bronzer and Contour Stick makes it really easy.

All this isn’t to say that statement makeup isn’t in. A fun way to experiment with super-saturated hues is with a pop of color in the inner corner, a cool geometric liner, or an underliner. The Haus Labs Optic Intensity Eco Gel Eyeliner Pencil comes in a whopping 18 colors that are so fun to play with.

If you frequent the beach and pool as we do, then your strands deserve serious TLC. We love to start our regimen with the new Amika Hydro Rush Intense Moisture Shampoo and the brand’s complimentary conditioner for a much-needed moisture boost.

Our pro tip after your next summer vacation? Saturate your strands in the Allyoos' Juice Drench Hair Treatment. Brush it through your hair with a comb-like our favorite travel-size option from Aerin, and then either let it air dry or wear it up or braided — your call. This formula doubles as an in-shower treatment or a leave-in and boasts 94 percent plant-derived ingredients that make your hair soft and shiny.

Finally, like skin, your hair needs to be protected from UV rays. Coola’s Scalp & Hair mist was formulated specifically for your scalp and hair, and it not only prevents a burn but keeps your color from fading — a true summer must-have!
