Our Must-Visit Pilates Studios in NYC

SLT: SLT stands for Strengthen, Lengthen, and Tone–and their cult-favorite workouts check all three boxes. SLT classes combine Pilates, cardio, and strength training all in one high-intensity yet low-impact Megaformer-based workout. A majority of their 9 studios across New York and Brooklyn have reopened with indoor classes.

New York Pilates: This much-loved workout chain offers traditional Pilates classes on a reformer. Trust us: you’ll be sore for days after taking their signature “Abs Arms Ass” class. New York Pilates has three studios in NYC plus locations in Southampton and Montauk.

Solidcore: If you're searching for an intense Pilates experience that adds a major strength-training element, try Solidcore. You can take a full-body workout class at one of their many studios in New York and Brooklyn.

Our Picks for Barre Workouts in NYC

Pure Barre: There are Pure Barre locations nationwide, so you know exactly what type of intense, toning workout you’ll get at a Pure Barre studio. Start with a “Classic” session at one of their NYC locations–they have multiple studios in New York, Brooklyn, and Long Island City.

Physique 57: Physique 57 is one of the original Barre workout experiences. They have an amazing on-demand program you can try at home, but they also recently reopened their Spring Street Studio in Soho for in-person classes. Expect a sculpting sweat session with traditional barre elements paired with light weights and a lot of core work.

The Bar Method: The Bar Method combines aspects of Pilates, strength training, and yoga in a low-impact sweat session that engages your entire body. There are 96 locations nationwide–the four locations in New York and Brooklyn have reopened for in-person classes.

OrangeTheory Fitness: OrangeTheory Fitness is a nationwide name, but they have 10 studios located across NYC to host your next workout. OrangeTheory classes focus on heart rate zones throughout every exercise, with an emphasis on reaching “The Orange Zone” to maximize fat and calorie burning.

P.volve: P.volve is loved for its at-home resistance-based workout equipment and incredible virtual classes. Now, its NYC studio in Soho has reopened for in-person sessions. We love their signature “Strength & Sculpt” class, which combines resistance and strength training for one seriously intense workout.

Barry’s Bootcamp: The cult-favorite workout combines traditional bootcamp circuits with high-intensity interval training. Expect a treadmill section, plus significant weight and core work, all guided by Barry’s amazing instructors. Take a class at one of Barry's six locations in New York City.

Hydra New York: For those looking for a private exercise and wellness experience, make Hydra New York your new go-to. You can reserve a private fitness suite with a range of equipment inside, including the Mirror, which will guide you through strength training, yoga, and barre classes. There’s also TRX and weightlifting equipment to round out the sweat session.
